About Me

Me and my beloved, Paul

Me and my beloved, Paul

I’m glad you dropped by. Make yourself comfortable while I tell you a little about myself, Brenda Marie Lightfeather Marroy.

I AM a word nerd, an organic gardener, an animal lover, an avid reader, a student and lover of life, and a soul on a healing journey. Sometimes I am forgetful, judgmental of myself, and uninspired. Other times, when I remember who I am, I have great memory recall, I know I am an important piece of the whole, and I am so inspired my hands cannot type fast enough.

I APPRECIATE the smell and feel of rain on my face, sunrises and sunsets, a cold dirty martini, well-prepared food, a nice black dress, and kind people.

I LEAN TOWARDS the downtrodden and oppressed, minorities, simplicity, speaking my truth, and quiet.

I HAVE BEEN BLESSED with a husband and a family who love me, many awake, aware women friends, two beautiful cats, Merlin and Mystic, who own a piece of my heart, a good mind, and simplicity of heart.

I FANCY MYSELF to be a writer, an unpublished author, a good cook, a supportive and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and sister, and a true friend to all.

I SHY AWAY FROM verbose people, haughtiness, gossips, and self-proclaimed gurus and healers.

I ASPIRE to be kind, compassionate, accepting, and loving.

I RECALL the journey I have taken to get to this beautiful place and time in my life, many fun and exciting motorcycle rides with my beloved husband and sweetheart, Paul, my honeymoon in Ireland, and the lessons I have learned along the way.

I hope you enjoy my blog.  I do love hearing from those who read the words I so carefully place on the page, so please leave a comment and tell me a little about yourself.

I also invite you to check out my Facebook page which is also called

I’m at student in high school who plans on majoring in acting. Recently, I’ve come across a fantastic monologue that I hope to use for college auditions. The only problem is, I can’t find the play anywhere and I would like to read it to further understand the character. When I was researching the show, which is called A Day At the Beach by Beth Sager, one of the only online posts I could find that referenced the author was yours, where she was a guest writer. I was wondering if you could possibly give me some form of contact with Ms. Sager so I can read the full play in preparations for my college auditions.

      Dear Carrie,
I don’t know Beth Sager. I have not blogged for a while so I don’t remember the guest blog you are referring to. I’m sorry I can’t help you but did you try Google Search? Good luck to you.

    I’m Still Here

Friend, please don’t mourn for me,
I’m still here, though you don’t see.
I’m right by your side each night and day,
And within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I’m always near,
I’m everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I’ll never depart,
As long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I’ll never wander out of your sight.
I’m the brightest star on a summer night.
I’ll never be beyond your reach.
I’m the warm moist sand when you’re at the beach.

I’m the colorful leaves when fall comes around,
And the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I’m the beautiful flowers of which you’re so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I’m the first bright blossom you’ll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I’m the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
And you’ll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there’s no one to love you,
You can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I’ll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
And you’ll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I’m the hot salty tears that flow when you weep,
And the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I’m the smile you see on a baby’s face.
Just look for me, friend, I’m everyplace!

oh…I know what is wrong…but it makes no sense to most people…but yes, I was talking about myself. I’m always hesitant to share much about it in shorthand…it’s rather complicated, though my blog started as a method of documenting my journey, it’s become much more than that, so I’m not surprised you’re not aware of what my illness is…I will share a post that might tell you as it’s really hard to explain. Have to find the right one…

I guess this one from a year ago is the best little history I’ve got…the fact is I’m not alone in this illness there are 1000s of us that I’ve networked with…but we are not recognized by the medical establishment…There are a few doctors who do recognize this as a very real issue but they’re not mainstream…and even they don’t know how to help us…still we heal…with each others help…I have mentors that have gone before me who are now well, thank god.

and yes, someday we’ll have tea!

    that is the history post…

Gianna, Sounds like you’ve been to hell and back, andI can’t even imagine what life has been like for you. I applaud your courage to do what you’ve done to free yourself from the debilitating drugs. I trust, that though the journey has been a hard one, you will continue on your path and come out on the other side. Thank goddess for those who are standing by you and with you.I don’t know how anyone does life without support. From one sister to the other, I hold you tenderly in my heart. You rock. Hugs to you, Brenda

Ah…I’m in Asheville…I guess we’re about 4 hours away from one another…for now that is a very long distance for me.

It’s still nice to know you’re nearby…I’ve met many 100s of people from all over the world via the work on the blog and always think how nice it would be to find neighbors who are interested in similar things.

If you’re ever in the area do let me know, but for now I generally am not well enough to see people.

thank you too for your lovely blog and the your energy that emanates from it!

    • brendamarroy says:

Hi Gianna, I have a friend in Asheville so every once in a while I’m in that area. I also had a best friend move away from Old Fort last year, so I know Asheville pretty well. I’m sorry to hear you’re not doing well. Were you writing about yourself in the latest blog, about not knowing what was wrong? Sounds like we have a mutual admiration society between us because I look forward to your blog also. If ever you feel up to company or meeting for tea or coffee, let me know. My best friend lives in Knoxville and Asheville would be a side trip. Take care dear one. Hugs, Brenda

I came over to this page to thank you so much for your loving support. All the posts you like and I’ve noticed you’ve shared my work via twitter too on occasion. I’m very pleased to have your presence in my life!

So where exactly in the Blue Ridge Mountains are you?

    best to you! xo

      Hi Gianna,
I’m in Roanoke, Va. Are you anywhere near here?
I share your blog on Twitter and Facebook. The reason I share so much is because what you post usually makes such good sense to me, and is something I would like for many people to read. I love helping to get the word out about the healing path.
Thank you for an incredible blog. You’re a gift to me. Brenda

  18. I had a good laugh when I read how many notebooks you have. My writings started when I was a little girl in elementary school, not that I have either of them. One published in elementary school library and the other won a contest for writing to one of our presidents. I cannot imagine how many notebooks I’d have if I still had them all. The ones in my teenage years I don’t know if I’d want to still want, but I’m sure someone got a good laugh.

    • brendamarroy says:

When I was a teenager I kept a diary and I have no clue what happened to all that I wrote. Like you, I’m almost glad I don’t have those dairies because my writings were pretty much about teenage angst, boys, sock hops, and all the rest of the stuff that goes into being a teenager.
However, there’s another part of me that would love to have those diaries just to see what my thought processes were and how I felt about it all.
