Anything and Everything That Is Not Me

The things that are going on in this world, that make me weak in the knees and fill my heart with sorrow are:

So many people at war, children starving, women being brutalized, women and children being sold into slavery, soldiers and civilians being blown up, cities and towns being devastated, the ravages of man’s inhumanity to man, with no thought for neighbors, neighboring towns, and animals, greed, fear of death, religion, pornography, the rich getting richer while the poor are getting poorer, the insane political arena, hatred and violence, insensitivity, the biased news media, racism and bigotry, homophobia, desensitization, and women’s struggle for equality in a patriarchal world.

This list is by no means conclusive, it simply represents that which is in my mind at the moment. How about you? What makes you weak in the knees and filles you heart with sorrow?

  1. I too live in the province that that little girl Tori was killed and that is something that truly saddens me….First and foremost that an innocent child was molested and then killed….but that there were two people whose minds were so warped that they could commit such an atrocity.
That’s something that saddens me greatly….what kind of parenting did these people have…What on earth could happen in their lives growing up that they could even ‘think’ much less ‘do’ such a thing.

Like you also I am sad that there is a ‘forgotten’ third world as we call it where so many mothers and fathers but so often the mothers who have been abandoned…have to hold their child while they cry for the want of food and or medical care. Often they end up holding them while they breathe their last breath…I worked for an organization that works to help those families and it was most rewarding to my soul. I worked in an office but I pictured everything that I did as far as paperwork to be more than that….at the end of the day I pictured perhaps some child that was better off because of the work that went on in the office.

The founder of that organization once said…”Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God.” and I will always remember that.(Diane)

Diane, I’m touched by your beautiful words. As a member of the human family, I thank you for your caring and compassionate soul.

I cannot even imagine the trauma and deeps wounds that people have endured, that has turned them into being cruel. There are many out there, and they must suffer so, in order to feel the need to make others suffer.

I love the quote and I’m grateful that there are many who do feel the heart of god/goddess.

Thank you for reading my blog and for taking the time to leave such a heartfelt comment.

You hit on the big ones, Brenda. Personally, it is an amazement that so many American families are suffering in poverty.

Can’t “like” this piece, can only agree that, yes, all of those things make me sad, sad, sad. (And are also the reason that I rarely watch the news. Those little feel-good pieces they throw in the last 30 seconds don’t overcome the other 29 minutes of terrible things that happen in the world every day.)

  5. Right now we are listening to the details of a murder trial in our local media where a woman lead an 8 year old girl~ (her name is Tori Stafford).to a man who raped her, butalized her, and then the woman killed the child. They were also scoping for younger children unil the time they got caught. These two dealt drugs to the mother of this child. And in this way came into their path. Heart breaking.

Oh my. How sad. As a civilization, we seem to have lost our way.
The thought of a child being tortured feels like a knife being turned in a wound. It’s the unthinkable. Goddess bless that child and have mercy on the perpetrators.
